@@DanScott1 when we first purchased her she was on Chicken-Blue Buffalo. I thought she was allergic to it so I changed it to turkey-canidae still was having issue so we changed it to Hills prescription dog food then purina pro plan. No changes with neither of those dog foods now she’s on authority sensitive skins(lamb and brown rice) Still no changes, she only doing well when she takes medication. I amCurrently giving her apoquel daily and she’s still inflamed.

Pretty oily.. like applying suntan oil, soakes in though which is good and great for skin health. Just wash off a few hours later and don't let them on the leather sofa in the meantime.

Your welcome. Eggs are one of the best foods you can give a dog.. along with meats, organs and sardines.

No rice is not good for your dog, not really, because it's a carb and dogs need proteins, not carbs. Proteins and fats are whats needed. Of the daily food total 50 to 60% can be proteins, 15% as fats, 10% veg, 10% bones/calcium, 10% organs and what's left as carbs. So as you can see, carbs have little use yet most kibbles forexample are 25-50% carbs, hence the health problems dogs face today. If your dog is active then yes, a little carbs goes a long way but use brown rice best. White rice is bleached rice and therefore only a little better than sugar and low nutritional value anyway. The very best foods for dogs are eggs, meats, organs and canned sardines.

Love the way people take one thing and then throw it out of context. That was discussing Beta Glucans which can come from oats, yeast or mushrooms and they are natures most powerful immune system booster as widely scientifically studied. Organ meats (raw) are great though, the vitamins and minerals for dogs.

@@michiel2046 The neems fine, not eucalyptus. The best essential oils that are safe for cats are rosemary, copaiba, helichrysum, oregano, frankincense and cedarwood essential oil. Cats can also tolerate chamomile, lavender, thyme and valerian essential oils at very diluted concentrations. Grapeseed is fine as a carrier oil.

Thank you for your dedication. My dogs are going through the rounds with this cough. My lab had a vestibular attack from a bad ear infection. Scared me enough to switch them to raw diet. Yes I hear you, that vet diet is cardboard for dogs. What size is he? Maybe local costco or other cheaper store prices are better. Hemp is goo but nothing beats real sardines for nutrition. Eggs are great too. Maybe eggs and hemp oil with a few sardines.

Somethings out of balance. The diet is raw but what is it? Any supplements? Last vaccine? Any drugs? Environmental issues ie new floor cleaner, yard poison?

It's just the lauric acid in coconut is now being questioned for it's health value. So until a definitive result, I use coconut oil topically and Safe Sea (Ahi flower oil with Green Lipped Mussel Oil): amzn.to/3Yx9Z10 internally for omega 3 needs. Great for joint health too. Virgin is the best of the coconut oils though.

Maybe the steaks filling, keep him going a couple days. Maybe his gut has to get used to new and different foods and woofing a steak is causing this 'not eating'. Try a rae egg with the supplements in it. And add some soil based probiotics to help the digestion: amzn.to/3yoURqU but start them small the first week or so to get used to them. Don't feed cheese, not very healthy. Thinks eggs, canned sardines, meats, organs, green tripe and veg (blended).

@@DanScott1 when he came to me he wasn't eating and had awful symptoms (kibble fed). He has refused many foods including eggs. I've put kefir in his water. He only has cheese or bacon with his tablets (Beta glucan and antipastic capsules -natural). Plus the cheese is quality organic and bacon is nitrite free. 1 thing I'm worried about, I added some castor with oregano oil (20%) to his food to help his joints but heard it's poisonous to dogs!!! Is this true?? What do I do, he seems less energetic today.

@@AJ-ku9jz No, dont give castor and oregano oil. It's not poisonous though. Oregano is just used as an antibiotic for my purposes to clean up an infection topically or internaly. So any infection internally, add one neat drop oregano oil to 1 tsp olive oil or caster and add to food once daily for 5-7 days depending on infection. For external use it's 1-2 drops in 1tsp olive or caster oil, mix and apply to problem area.

@@DanScott1 I was using a 20% oregano with castor oil. I did see articles saying it can cause poisoning in high quantities. I've had him just a week, he's due to go vets this week. I've changed his diet, but wanted to treat a possible infection to be safe. I have a bottle 1:4 with olive oil and another 1:4 with castor oil. How many drops of the 20% should I add to food it it's already mixed?

@@AJ-ku9jz Depends on dogs weight: small dog 10-15lb 5-8 drops, 20-30lb 10-15 drops of the 20% solution. I'd just use this as your dogs antibiotic, it works and not use any vet antibiotics.

I don't think probiotics could survive the kibble cooking process. I think they have tried the spraying it on the kiible post cooking process but that's as far as I know of. The best probiotic is the soil based version as it has stronger organisms that can survive the digestive system to make it to the gut to do some good: amzn.to/3yoURqU

No, not this remedyif the skin is broken. I'd get some oregano oil: amzn.to/3ulnF1T add one drop to 1 tsp olive or coconut oil, mix and apply. This will keep things clean and bring some relief. This is a tempory measure and I'd look at a more fresh food based diet to help fix the underlying issues causing it.

Tricky without knowing the health history but I'd get some Slippery Elm Bark Powder - amzn.to/3CbHXx0 give a 1/4tsp in coconut water or milk on an empty stomach once daily for 7 days. This will help soothe the digestive system and reduce inflammation. Whats the diet? Vaccinations? Any drugs/supplements given.

The best source of zinc is oysters, but it's also plentiful in red meat and poultry. Other good sources of zinc include other kinds of seafood, nuts whole grains, breakfast cereals, and dairy products. Or maybe something like this supplement if not wanting to use fresh foods: amzn.to/3Ui56tQ
